It looks nice but it's a problem for internationalization. Anyway maybe it's enough grafic.

Ola Mr Pine The whole idea beyond an icon is that it should be immediately clear what it means. That's the idea beyond traffic signs as well. They are and have to be extremely consistent to be immediately understandable. They don't have complex patterns and/or gradients etc. Why is it not possible to design icons the same intentions in mind as traffic signs?
Eu gosto dos teus icons porque são visualmente agradáveis mas não tenho a certeza se são práticos.
@Anonymous: This is an application icon, not an action icon. KDE tries to keep action icons simple and straight-forward. Application icons serve the dual function of conveying purpose and establishing a visual brand, hence a more artistic/metaphoric approach is taken there.
Oops, forgot to add: Loving it! The new version is definitely the best so far.

@ Anonymous: I don't want icons like traffic signs on my desktop. That would be really boring. And there's nothing wrong about beautiful icons if they are still meaningful. I think Oxygen is beautiful and meaningful. But you're free to use whatever icon set you want.
Looks pretty cool! It might be harder to distinguish at smaller sizes (or further from the screen) than the other version, though. The text won't be readable at smaller sizes.

A sand watch would be cool in the vault would be good.
Looks well but I think a round number combination key vault would be a better vault symbol.
like this (but with vault) http://www.downpourproductions.com/img/vault/vault_banner.jpg
you could even use a round calender for the numbers in the combination
You should work on the door hinge
um abraço forte

Very nice. Maybe you should consider lager numbers and letters to make them more readable and to emphasize their importance. Also red on black might not be the best choice for contrast.

I agree that this is the best one so far...
...but I too guess a hourglass one would look even better - besides having no problems with date formats. :-D
I fear you won't notice any of that date goodness when the icon is down to a size where people normally view it. It's already hard to recognize on the smaller version that you posted.
Personally, I think using the "clock lock" was a pretty nice idea, but oh well.
The vault with the date is a lot better than the first one.
I'm against a sand clock. I think it will look out of place.
While the numeric date is displayed different across the globe, the way the author layout it (with the titles above) is more than self explanatory IMHO.
Today the great Marco Committed air into svn. Let me just tell you a bit about air, air is a direct descendant of the air wallpaper, I made the first sketch of it the same day I made the wallpaper, and it tries to make the people that found the Oxygen theme "to black" happy. There is no one fits all design, and hopefully with air we can make a wider spectrum of people love KDE. ( in the future I think we can still make a couple more themes) Its still we hope coherent, there are a lot of small details that are shared with oxygen both qt theme as plasma theme. That gives it a feeling of belonging as part of the same experience. We introduced a brand new element in plasma theming, a cropped background the is placed on the plasmoid canvas, (you will see this in the future taken to new heights as it opens a fantasist new set of opportunities to designers). Its transparent, people love transparent stuff :) (we did some effort to avoid contrast issues, but with certain wallp
Air was the wallpaper we introduced in KDE 4.2, but that is just the beginning of something larger. Air is supposed to be different than what Oxygen is, something that tries to appeal to a user base looking for a more "sexy" experience than Oxygen (yeah I know you are out there :) ), but to still have the capability of merging nicely with what we have now. The first thing we started working on was a Plasma theme. Plasma, with it's immense plasticity and a fantastic coder team, allows us to try to push for new ideas. Another extremely cool thing about Plasma is it's ability to become anything you want it to be. So a user in KDE 4.3 might have a desktop that looks like this, if that is his wish, without having to use external software: (click for fullscreen mode) This is an example of how simple one can make a desktop in the 4.3 Plasma once we all manage to get all of our plans working. The new systray speck will help, the work being done on the task bar will allow you
Hopefully in the next few days I should have a Usability test that I have been working on with Björn Balazs from apliki.de on the K3B icons in that study I will pose the same question I'm about to pose now. And hopefully a few more options, that will come from the feedback of this post. So the question is...... "Data cd" 1 or 2?.... 1 2 Don't think to hard, just fire the first thing that pops in your mind, that is the best way to judge a icon IMO..also if you have an better idea please share...I will try to include it in the usability test. P.S Ofcourse the numbers will have to be redone for each size and the document as well... Its one source file for each icon. meaning this one = 14 files 7 png's and 7 svgz's.

Btw not all trafic signs are easy to understand.
Hence from that my Nickname ;-)
Who says the backwards americans are always right? And what about ISO Standard?
Year / Month /day is the proper way, you know!

a small icon of it will probably suck.
Why don't you try keeping things as simple as possible?

Which better lends itself to having a clock face superimposed.
Ps: sorry my bad english
