The anatomy of a airy clock.

Wile doing the composition of the clock i shown yesterday and some fixing to the handles so they are more different i realized it might be interesting to share a bit of all the wells and turns it has.

So we start out with making a base a canvas that has some effects and a contrast drop shadow, the dorpshadow has to be then exported into png in a big size and then re imported and rescaled... then we made a copy of the shadow bit.... nex t we create a fully opaque bg because we cant create a cliping area in plasma and I dont want to see the plasmoid andles under all of the clock.
Next we create the pointers and the shadows for each one, we need to do the same as we did for the dropshadow in the clock shadows.... the pointers need to be 100% opaque so we get good contrast betwin the shadow and the pointers, we cant clip the shadows couse they have a difrent rotation point.... next we make a copye of the details of the clok to overlay on top of the pointers so we get a transparency look.... layuer everthing and here you have a plasma clock :) simple right?

Hi, Great clock. Have you seen the clock on bbc.co.uk - it has a bouncing 'tick'. I wounder - is this possible to get on the airy clock?
Pinheiro said…
@Matthew the plasma clock bounces dough not as dramatric as that one but we dont want to wast to many cpu cicles couse of just that do we?
Johannes (litb) said…
Why can't that just be calculated by the graphic card's chip? I don't understand why that's all be done by the CPU.

Hey, could you please integrate the windows 7 hover effect on tasks? So if the icon of the app on the tasks is orange, the color of the hover effect is orange too?. Also the effect on tasks that seeks attention in windows 7?

P.S. I don't really know how to explain it clearly but I know most of us have tried windows 7 already and might already know what I mean...

the clock looks good, but if I place it on the panel it becomes unreadable... it's white on white lol :D

@Pinheiro: a bit off-topic... I'm on karmic koala / kde 4.3 beta and the AIR theme from GHNS is not working; think you can place a good revision on kde-look so we can taste it out and perhaps provide freedback? The screenies looked kick-ass, I'm dying to try the theme out :P Thanks

what is the name of that plasma theme, i know the wallpaper, but the taskbar theme, what's that called, and where can i find it, it's amazing
Dread Knight said…
@alpha1 the theme is called Air, you can find it on KDE-look / GHNS / New theme, but it just doesn't installs for me in KDE 4.3 beta 2.

I wish someone would update the theme.... or include it already in KDE :D becaue I think it's really awesome!
