The weather is HOT!

Well it is! according to the weather site its 30 cº but i think ts much more.
But you might ask how come I'm talking about the weather???
Simple, I have been working on the weather plasmoid with Shawn Starr, Leeo, Marco Martin is implementing the slider/tab with some really nice animations. And we might have some action going on with the Wikipedia people to provide the pictures for each city. So we have a lot of people working on this its great :P.One major part of this is is making about 40 weather icons that we need to do any way cause 11 weather icons are part of the freedesktop.org naming speck, so a small preview of what we have so far...

Still a lot of room for improvement obviously.

Está muito porreiro, kudos :)

E hoje parece que está mais fresquinho por cá, pelo menos em Lisboa.

nuno, i already told you...i love you... i never used stuff for the weather, but with this i'll think about it...it looks so....hot... :)

Hot weather? It's alright for some.

The weather widget mockup is, however, very hot.

Looks great! How about displaying a webcam image instead of a static image from wikipedia? The webcam URL could be provided by the user or fetched from a web2.0ish database.

Nice work!

Did you also think about webcam support?
It would be nice to see the actual weather on the picture.

yes webcam suport is in the roadmap but one thing at a time :P

P.S. thanks for the comments.

Looks amazing!

That's really an amazing work!

If only the weather was as beatuiful as the icons suggest. ;)

That mockup & icons looks incredible great. It would be awesome to have a plasma weatherapplet released before KDE 4.2.

Nuno... you are the god of graphics!! Keep up the very good work you're doing !

I like the photo idea on left side. But add there a small effect.

When there is very shiny day, it will reflect like current mockup. When there is clouds on the sky, the reflect is dimm and little more blurry.
When there is small rain, add a few water drops to reflection as it would be on table.
When there is heavy rain, add there splash of water under photo what reflects the photo from it, like the photo itself would be a totally wet and that's why the "table" has water splash :-)

I wonder how it will deal with i18n (there is no indication of what kind of degress it is using, I know in the picture is celsius because of saclae, but...), also the clock AM/PM or 24h and from where it will take the picture?
Also, will it gather data from only one service or will be independant?
I wonder, I wonder.. :D

Well, that's it, now I really want to join KDE and plasma programming, I hesitated a long time. Thanks (million times) for all your work, Nuno!
