Yes this is a challenge, you know those extra nice pictures you took last time you went on a photo conquest that looks so sweet as your wallpaper? yes?
Well then please share them will the entire world in the great KDE 4.0 Wallpaper Contest.
So the rules are simple, free open source photos LGPL, or similar big sizes ones 1900x1220 almost a minimum required , different aspect ratios is a bonus, and... well the rest is in http://pd.ruphy.org/
were you can upload and get all the info you need commits close in 20/8 00:00 GMT. The Juries are me, David and Ken to act as president.

@Pinheiro: I noticed that the rules of the contest don't force you to be the author. Is this intended ? Is it ok if somebody send some wallpapers under Creative Commons, found on flickr ?

This contest is a great idea, I think there should be an story on the "dot" about this :)

shamaz yes you dont have to be the actual creator of the image, but expressed aproval from the artist is required.
so creativecomons is agood satrting point but we do require the artist to be aware of this utilization and what it meens..

Despite this nice idea of a contest, I really would love to see the wallpaper of the green meadow/with blue sky that can be seen on the "form-factors" screencast where the analog clock is introduced! I have not seen a better wallpaper in the last month!

Yes, I agree with the Anonymous above... That wallpaper of the green meadow and the blue clouded sky is amazing and its my wallpaper right now!

The contrast of the two colors is very pleasing to the eye and seems calming. I like it!! Oh well, even if its not the kde4 default, it will be my default!

I will give you my opinion in your wallpapers.

First of all, I'm a fan of blue and I think blue is calm comparing to green or other colors.

I don't like this, I don't like the eddy, the contrast is not bad but is not calm and is not the style I would use for a wallpaper.

This one looks more calm but I don't like it much, it gives me a hot sensation for some reason and I don't like hot.

I definitely like this one and I would like to use it as a wallpaper, I like the blue and I love the contrast but I find a bit dirty compared to the other one, I prefer the clean one, not bad thought, I love the colors on this one!

Too much contrast I think, I won't use this for my wallpaper, but I think green wallpapers combine well with black objects and windows on top of it.

I'm also fan of dark but not exaggeratedly dark but good contrast and tones of blue and black wallpapers.

I like this one, it looks clean and peaceful to my eye, wallpapers like this would be nice for people that likes peaceful wallpapers, I also see it would be nice to have black applets and windows on top of it, it would combine nicely and it will make good contrast.

Today the great Marco Committed air into svn. Let me just tell you a bit about air, air is a direct descendant of the air wallpaper, I made the first sketch of it the same day I made the wallpaper, and it tries to make the people that found the Oxygen theme "to black" happy. Air and KDE 4.3.

Air was the wallpaper we introduced in KDE 4.2, but that is just the beginning of something larger. Air is supposed to be different than what Oxygen is, something that tries to appeal to a user base looking for a more "sexy" experience than Oxygen (yeah I know you are out there :) ), but to still have the capability of merging nicely with what we have now. The first thing we started working on was a Plasma theme. Plasma, with it's immense plasticity and a fantastic coder team, allows us to try to push for new ideas. Another extremely cool thing about Plasma is it's ability to become anything you want it to be. So a user in KDE 4.3 might have a desktop that looks like this, if that is his wish, without having to use external software: (click for fullscreen mode) This is an example of how simple one can make a desktop in the 4.3 Plasma once we all manage to get all of our plans working. I have a question!

Hopefully in the next few days I should have a Usability test that I have been working on with Björn Balazs from apliki.de on the K3B icons in that study I will pose the same question I'm about to pose now. And hopefully a few more options, that will come from the feedback of this post. So the question is...... "Data cd" 1 or 2?.... 1 2 Don't think to hard, just fire the first thing that pops in your mind, that is the best way to judge a icon IMO..also if you have an better idea please share...I will try to include it in the usability test. P.S Ofcourse the numbers will have to be redone for each size and the document as well... Its one source file for each icon. meaning this one = 14 files 7 png's and 7 svgz's.
