Oxygen is back to work.

Oxygen widget style needs work we know that, but time is scarce and the oxygen qt widget developers are incredibly busy in other parts of kde to so... but we did managed to bring some nice new features to 4.3 and kill some nasty bugs, like bug 163990 and bug 166082... so here you have new and improved tabs.

Think its a major improvement. from the old ones. kudos to Huynh Huu Long for his usual brilliant work.

There is still much work to be done, and like in all other areas of oxygen help is appreciated ;).

Hi Nuno,

I like the new tabs, but the shot David posts is very nice too - I prefer no room between tabs. And the line above them makes it easier to see the active tab.

+1 to no room between tabs, but don't want the line above tabs because it reminds default gtk style.

Please don't make a room between two tabs! It has very bad useability.

No!!! Leave the space between tabs!
Ta least make two themes - one with and another without space between tabs

Are these Droid fonts?
Will the new theme be called differently to allow people use the old one?

That is a huge improvement from the current tabs - as one of the things I hated most about Oxygen was the tabs. I am currently using Bespin.

Thank you ^_^. Looks more slick. Beautiful. Is there any plans to make the toolbars more like toolbars and not embedded like?

+1 for david (aka no spaces between the tabs)

I also think that it looks and feels better with no space between the tabs.

+1 for no space between the tabs.
And please add some colors, maybe some blue shades, grayscale is boring :/

Of course there should be room between the tabs. Otherwise, it is impossible to tell where one tab ends and the other begins!

I intend to make the tabs adjacent, but I focused on visual distinction of single tabs and a simple implementation first :)

I like where this is going

Well, you can tell that by the tabs' borders already.

+1 for no space between tabs

If you guys go and have a look at the bugs its mostly because of the space being needed, so yeah I guess this falls in the category of ..... "I want to make my theme look as I want it"...

Hello Nuno, this new tabs are really cool, I prefer the space between the tabs.

Maybe you can take some ideas from this one -> http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Avant+%5BPretty+Please+REQUEST!%5D?content=101283

I think this it's pretty cool..

What border? The current border is one pixel wide, and almost the exact same colour as the inactive tab background.
Pinheiro said…
the fact that the active border is conected to the actual content area is a prety good distinction :(

I wish people would be more kind wen comenting on other peoples hard work.

These new tabs are incredible!

To the people asking for "no space between tabs"...

You should see these tabs working on KDE trunk... When an inactive tab get focus, a beautiful blue glow appears around it, making it very clear what is active, inactive and what is getting the focus. On the old version, only a blue "line" above it appeared, making it.

The space is very useful for accessibility and it is beautiful!

By the way, when tabs are at the bottom or at left/right side, it is even more beautiful...

Keep up the great work guys...

Hope you understand my not-very-well-spoken English

Not sure about space between tabs, but please use screen space better. All dialogs, interfaces wate a lot of space with empty grey areas. For example in Konqueror the space between the menu bar and the toolbar is almost as thick in pixels as the tollbar itself! and the inferior area of Konq. Window, or Dolphin's is too thick as well. The same info could be showed with less pixels up and down the text and with thinner bars.

Anyway muito obrigado for your, despite these little criticisms, great work.

Great job, as usual!

just one thing.. I can't stand the fact that the gradient of scrollbars doesn't shift with the cursor. Is it intended, or it's a bug or a technical trouble?

Looks greaaat :D

Much better!

But please, as many said, no room betweeen tabs XD.
Pinheiro said…
As I said the space is to adress the bugs I refered in the post, aka "I cant distinguish the inactive tabs"

I vote for space between tabs.

Old people or new users who has no experience from computers (hey, they exist!) have difficulties to recognize tabs but sees only the text.

When we add space between tabs, the recognizing becomes easier, when every tab is actually a tab and not just part of long area.

Hopefully there just comes change to set wanted color for those active and inactive tabs.

Now i´m using kde-svn with the new tabs.. just one think: It Rocks! :D

Dude, please don´t change the new tab.. It´s perfect! Please don´t give attention to ¨no space between tabs¨ comments.. it´s really cool as is now.. (With spaces)

the comment was meant for the new "CLOCK"...
about tabs....
it's personal opinion..
but I liked the old ones better...

Is looking really nice. Go on this way ....

i'd prefer no spacing between tabs.
if you are concerned about distinguishing between active, inactive and attention requiring tabs, just make whole tab heading glow, and make sure to draw notably different colour and adequate thickness lines between the tabs themselves
